the tired hunters return

sooooo

how did everyone sleep last night. I slept really great! Nice to have a warm bed after sleeping in the truck for two night while out hunting.

so yeah my dad, brother and myself left Thursday morning for a hunting trip. We had a good time, but unfortunately we did not get any deer... :(

We left at 5 Thursday morning and headed out on the highway! we stopped at Hope, and I drove from there up the coquihala to just b4 Merritt. We took the coldwater exit and drove through the bush around there for a bit b4 we headed farther east past brookmere to where we made camp. It was such beautiful country up there, and perfect for deer, but we saw absolutely nothing. Friday afternoon we called another guy that was going to meet us up where we were but we decided to meet him in princeton and go hunting from there. so we packed up and headed to the 5A and drove to princeton. you can just guess, we saw close to 50 deer on the drive down! We arrived in princeton a while b4 the other guy so we had supper at A&W. well anyway it was dark when they showed up, and to make a long story short, after a couple of plan changes we found ourselves an hour out of princeton in the middle of some back road in the dark no idea where we were and couldn't find where we wanted to be! so we just pulled over at the side of the road and went to sleep right there in the truck. the morning proved fruitless, and we didn't even see the simplest sign of deer up there. eventually we got back to where we "camped" there and figured out where we were on the map. we were way to far north for where all the deer "should" be, so we packed up again and drove all the way back to princeton and to a forestry road just south of the town. by this time it was after 2, so we didn't have a lot of time to hunt. we hunted around there a little bit, but again saw nothing. quarter after 5 we left for home. and it is a very good thing we made it home, cause I drove the whole way back! (I know, scary) took the number 3 to hope and onto the number 1 through chilliwack and to aldergrove and home. it was good practice (would be on the freeway on the rain at night). but anyway that was our trip for this year! we hope to get out another weekend day trip or two, so we still have a bit of hope for something. I'll post some pictures soon!

Early Signs of Autumn

Autumn's arrival has come to us,
a pivotal season in the year.
Links summer to winter, always does,
Tells us Christmas is coming near.

The cooler northern wind has come
and brings out all our warmer coats.
We know the season's just begun
when leaves down from the treetops float.

Red and yellow, orange and brown,
Trees transform before our eyes.
Pumpkins grow up from the ground,
What we need for pumpkin pies.

Friends and family celebrate,
thankful for how God has blessed.
All that turkey's really great,
but surely stuffing is the best.

Days get shorter, nights are longer,
morning frosting on the ground.
Mighty wind, ever stronger,
listen to his howling sound.

Autumn, Autumn, you are here,
just begun but soon to end.
Take each moment, make it dear.
Really, Autumn is our friend!

Just imagine this scene with not green leaves on the trees but a mix of yellow and red and orange!

Just saw this guy and wanted some pictures. He cooperated too!
